The papers in this special issue of Pivot come directly from a conference which used the same title and which was held in March 2022. This conference was co-organized by York University's English Department’s Graduate Diploma in World Literature and Humanities Department’s Graduate Diploma in Comparative Literature. The four articles showcased in this issue explore global representations on friendship and relationship building in the midst of difficult circumstances.
